Internet, July 17: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Balochistan’s Mastung district, alleging that more than 45 security personnel were killed and dozens injured.
Pakistani authorities have confirmed that the convoy was attacked but have not verified the casualty figures claimed by the BLA.
In a statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the attack took place on Thursday in the Khadkucha area of Mastung. He claimed that the group’s “Fatah Squad” carried out a coordinated assault on a convoy transporting Pakistani military personnel and reinforcements.
The BLA alleged that over 45 security personnel were killed and many others were injured, adding that the death toll could rise. These claims remain independently unverified.
According to reports, Pakistani officials acknowledged the attack but did not disclose the number of casualties.
Local media reports stated that two civilians were killed and 11 others, including four children, were injured after Pakistani security forces allegedly opened fire in the Khadkucha area following the attack. These reports have not been independently confirmed.
Earlier this month, the BLA also claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in Gwadar district’s Jiwani region. The group alleged that more than 30 security personnel were killed after an explosives laden vehicle struck the camp.
The latest incident comes amid a series of attacks by Baloch insurgent groups targeting Pakistani security forces in Balochistan. (Maxim News)
