HYDRA Back To Field: Inpection Of Ponds In The Wake Of Complaints

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (Maxim News): In the wake of complaints about encroachment of ponds, HYDRA has once again stepped into the field. Commission AV Ranganath inspected many ponds in the suburbs as well as Greater Hyderabad. The officials of the concerned departments were directed not to ignore the non-residential encroachments under any circumstances and to remove them immediately.

Ranganath, who went there with a complaint that a real estate company was covering the 6.5-acre Idulakunta with soil inKhanamet Survey No. 7 of Serilingampally Madhapur, asked the Revenue and Irrigation officials for details. He said that he would examine the Idulakunta once again and examine the documents and survey reports of the builders. He also inspected Medikunta in Madhapur. Most of the slums have disappeared and multi-storied buildings have already sprung up there.

The details of the encroachment of Talab (Turaka Lake) pond in Nizampet were explained to Commissioner Ranganath by the locals. He examined the maps and documents related to the pond.  Nijanta’s lab was also inspected at the same pond. The revenue and municipal officials were ordered to remove the sheds adjacent to the embankment within two days.

The Commissioner who went to the embankment saw the sewage coming into the pond through the inlet and suggested that the entire pond was polluted and steps should be taken to divert it.  The officials of the Municipal, Revenue, and Agriculture Departments should coordinate and conduct a comprehensive survey regarding the pond.  As per the request of members of the Bandari LayOut Community Association, the pond was fully inspected.  He inspected the Neknampur small pond in Narsingi and learned the details of the constructions in the buffer zone. 

Residents have complained that sewage from the gated community flows directly into the pond.  He inspected Vanam, Chellikuinta, and Mella Ponds in Tellapur.  In the name of beautification, the real estate companies are encroaching and the locals have asked to restore the ponds.  

On this occasion, Ranganath said that henceforth the ponds will be controlled and not encroached upon, and necessary steps will be taken for restoration.  The Commissioner told the locals that after a thorough examination of the records, field conditions, documents, and survey reports, further action would be taken.
