Mayawati Slams Congress, BJP, SP for Failing Marginalised Communities

On the occasion of her 69th birthday, Mayawati, the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, accused the Congress party of working to erode the reservation system in India. Speaking to the media at the BSP headquarters, Mayawati expressed her concerns about the Congress’s historical neglect of marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

She emphasized that despite the reservation policies in place, these communities have not been able to reap their full benefits. The BSP leader went on to accuse Congress of consistently disrespecting Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and other influential leaders from marginalized groups. “The Congress party has always undermined Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and is now taking steps that indicate an intent to dismantle the reservation system entirely,” she asserted.

Mayawati further alleged that certain Congress leaders had made remarks that were openly critical of reservation, accusing the party of pretending to be a supporter of marginalized communities. “Congress is only pretending to be the well-wisher of SC, ST, and OBC communities. Their actions reveal their true intent, which contradicts their claims of being champions of the marginalized,” she said.

While not naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi directly, Mayawati criticized the symbolic gestures made by the party, such as showcasing the Constitution and wearing blue attire, which is associated with Dr. Ambedkar. She suggested these actions were merely performative attempts to attract the SC, ST, and OBC vote without any genuine commitment to their welfare.

In addition to Congress, Mayawati also took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing both parties of misleading voters with deceptive promises. She urged the SC, ST, and OBC communities to remain alert to these parties’ tactics, which she believes are designed to exploit their votes rather than work for their real advancement.

Mayawati also used the occasion to call on her party workers to strengthen the BSP’s presence and influence, especially in the upcoming elections in Delhi and Bihar. She expressed confidence that if elections were held fairly, the BSP would achieve considerable success. The BSP leader urged marginalized communities to rally behind her party, promising that the BSP would secure a strong comeback in Uttar Pradesh and extend its influence across other states as well.
