Hyderabad, July 20 (Maxim News): Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has reaffirmed that the welfare of police personnel and their families remains a top priority for the state police. During a comprehensive review meeting at the DGP Office, he assessed the implementation of welfare schemes and the Arogya Bhadratha health programme while directing officials to strengthen transparency, digitisation, and financial support for police families.
The review covered police welfare initiatives, healthcare benefits, scholarships, insurance schemes, education support, and future plans to improve the quality of life for serving and retired personnel.
Telangana Police Welfare Schemes to Get Digital Boost
Addressing senior officers, the DGP said the Telangana Police Department is implementing several welfare programmes to provide financial security and social support to police personnel and their dependents. He stressed that every eligible employee should receive the benefits without delay.
CV Anand said the department is encouraging academic excellence among the children of police personnel through merit scholarships and meritorious scholarships. In addition, students preparing for JEE, NEET, and other national and state competitive examinations receive financial assistance and scholarship support to pursue higher education.
The DGP also reviewed welfare schemes that provide marriage loans, medical loans, education loans, additional corpus insurance, grants, and financial assistance to police personnel. Furthermore, he directed officials to strengthen these schemes and improve access for eligible beneficiaries.
According to official data, the Arogya Bhadratha health scheme provided medical treatment to 33,126 police personnel and their family members in 2025, with expenditure reaching ₹181.74 crore. Between January and June 2026, another 12,392 beneficiaries received treatment under the scheme, with ₹73.61 crore spent on healthcare services.
The DGP also reviewed the Group Personal Accidental Insurance Scheme, which provides financial assistance to families of police personnel who die in the line of duty. Under the policy, constables to assistant sub inspectors receive insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh, sub inspectors and inspectors receive ₹10 lakh, deputy superintendents of police receive ₹15 lakh, while IPS officers and senior officers receive coverage of ₹25 lakh.
CV Anand warned against any misuse of welfare schemes and said the department would not tolerate attempts to convert welfare programmes into commercial activities. He said unethical practices by a few individuals could affect thousands of police families who genuinely depend on these benefits.
DGP CV Anand Calls for Greater Transparency
Furthermore, he instructed officials to increase revenue generated through police canteens and commercial complexes and utilise those funds to support the Young India Police School, scholarships, civil services coaching, group examination coaching, marriage assistance, and other welfare initiatives.

The DGP also directed officials to introduce a comprehensive digital platform to manage beneficiary records, fund utilisation, welfare services, and financial transactions. According to him, complete digitisation will improve transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery.
In addition, he asked officials to constitute welfare committees at different ranks and ensure commercial properties owned by the police department are leased transparently to generate additional revenue for welfare programmes.
The review also focused on expanding access to low interest loans for police personnel. The DGP directed officials to facilitate open plot loans at 9 percent interest, housing loans at 6.75 percent, personal loans up to ₹5 lakh at 11 percent, marriage loans of up to ₹6 lakh for daughters, and education loans of up to ₹30 lakh for higher studies in India and abroad.

Concluding the meeting, CV Anand said every welfare scheme should reach every eligible police employee fairly and efficiently. He emphasised that every rupee allocated for welfare must be spent responsibly and transparently to build a stronger welfare system for the Telangana Police.
Senior police officers, including DG (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, ADG Sanjay Jain, IG Shah Nawaz Qasim, IG Gajarao Bhupal, Police Welfare and Arogya Bhadratha Secretary Uday Kumar Reddy, Finance Adviser Sharath Kumar, and representatives of the Telangana Police Association, attended the review meeting.
