Video | Alert Hyderabad: Bird Flu-Infected Chickens Found In Drinking Water Reservoir
Hyderabad, Feb 14 (Maxim News): Hundreds of dead chickens infected with bird flu were found dumped in the Akkampally reservoir, which supplies drinking water to Hyderabad and nearby villages in Nalgonda district.
After the shocking discovery, Devarakonda RDO Ramana Reddy, along with irrigation officials, inspected the reservoir and ordered a thorough search of the area.
Investigation Underway
RDO Ramana Reddy has instructed Gudipalli police to investigate who dumped the infected chickens and to register a case against those responsible.
Strict Measures at the Andhra-Telangana Border
With bird flu cases confirmed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana officials have tightened security at the Khammam and Nalgonda district borders to prevent the virus from spreading.
- 24 check posts have been set up at the border.
- Animal Husbandry Department staff are inspecting all vehicles.
- Chickens, eggs, and chicken feed from AP are being blocked from entering Telangana.
Suspicions Over Illegal Poultry Dumping
There are hundreds of poultry shops in Nalgonda district, many of which buy chickens, eggs, and feed from AP. Officials suspect that traders might have dumped sick chickens into the Akkampally reservoir to avoid getting caught.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are taking strict action to prevent further risks. (Maxim News)
