Officials suspect a short circuit could have caused the fire. Residents noticed fire and thick smoke from the top floor of the building, which is surrounded by commercial complexes, and alerted the Fire Department and police.

Three fire engines were rushed to the spot and doused the fire within two hours. “The store room was full of cotton, fiber, and cloth material due to which thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, triggering panic among the residents,” said Charminar Inspector K. Chandra Shekar.
