Kamareddy, April 15: Congress MLC Amer Ali Khan on Tuesday concluded a two-day protest rally against the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, calling it a direct assault on the constitutional and religious rights of Muslims in India. Addressing the gathering, Amer Ali Khan described the Act as a “draconian measure” aimed at seizing Waqf properties and stripping Muslims of their personal laws and religious autonomy. “This is not just about land or property. It is a deliberate wound to the dignity of Muslims and the soul of our Constitution,” he said.

He warned that the legislation violated Article 25, which guarantees the Right to Freedom of Religion, and accused the BJP-led Central Government of using the law as a tool to erode autonomy and allow encroachments on Waqf lands worth lakhs of crores. “Today it is us. Tomorrow, it could be any other community,” he said, calling on all secular and democratic forces to stand united.

Amer Ali Khan said the Waqf Amendment Act was not only a legal assault but also a calculated political move to weaken the Muslim community. “We cannot stay silent while our protections are dismantled. Let us rise, protest, and reclaim the idea of India,” he urged.

Referring to widespread poverty among Muslims, especially in Hyderabad, he raised serious questions about the effectiveness of previous government efforts. “BRS says it spent Rs 12,000 crore on minority welfare. But why are Muslims still living in poverty and miserable conditions?” he asked.

He further announced a commitment to bring one lakh Muslim families living below the poverty line out of deprivation. “Why have minorities fallen so low in every sector of life?” he asked. “Is it because of government negligence, failed Muslim leadership, or our own silence? We must ask ourselves these tough questions.”

Amer Ali Khan said the rally was not the end, but the beginning of a broader national campaign against the Waqf Amendment Act. He reaffirmed that the Congress party would fight this law both politically and legally, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people.

“Let us protect our rights. Let us protect our Constitution. Let us protect our India,” he appealed. (Maxim News)
