Hyderabad MLC Elections Conclude Peacefully with 78.57% Voter Turnout: Anurag Jayanti

Hyderabad, April 23: Polling for the Hyderabad Local Authorities Constituency MLC seat concluded smoothly on Wednesday, with no untoward incidents reported throughout the day. Returning Officer Anurag Jayanti confirmed that the election process was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner across designated polling centers.

Voting commenced at 8:00 AM and continued until 4:00 PM, witnessing a voter turnout of 78.57% by 2:00 PM, which remained steady till the close of polling. Out of the total 112 eligible voters, 88 exercised their franchise at the two polling stations set up at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters.

Among the total voters, 31 were ex-officio members, of whom 22 cast their votes, while 66 out of 81 corporators participated in the election. The polling percentage saw a steady rise throughout the day—37.51% by 10:00 AM, 77.68% by noon, and 78.57% by 2:00 PM, which held until the polls closed.

Election observers, including Surendra Mohan, visited the polling booths along with Returning Officer Anurag Jayanti to monitor the voting process and ensure everything proceeded smoothly. Once the voting ended, the ballot boxes were transported under tight security to the reception center. Following verification, they were securely placed in the strong room, where a heavy police presence was deployed to safeguard the materials.

The vote counting is scheduled for April 25 at 8:00 AM and will take place at the Panwar Hall in the GHMC head office. Officials have ensured that all necessary arrangements and security protocols are in place to guarantee a fair and transparent counting process.

With a calm and efficient polling day behind them, election officials now look ahead to the vote counting, which will determine the next Member of the Legislative Council representing Hyderabad’s local bodies.
