Hyderabad, June 29 (Maxim News): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially released the notification for the Telangana state president elections, setting the stage for a crucial internal leadership contest. The nomination process began on Sunday and will continue until Monday afternoon, followed by scrutiny. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until Monday evening. If multiple nominations are filed, polling will take place on Tuesday, July 1.
Karnataka BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje has been appointed as the election observer for the Telangana BJP presidential election.

Several senior leaders are being considered for the post, including Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind, former MLC Ramachandra Rao, and Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender. However, party insiders suggest that the BJP high command is inclined to appoint a BC (Backward Class) leader as the new state president to strengthen its base among backward communities in Telangana.
This move aligns with the party’s broader strategy to increase BC representation and consolidate support from key social groups ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming GHMC polls.
BJP Leadership Transition in Telangana
The BJP’s leadership in Telangana has seen several changes in recent years. Former state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who played a pivotal role in expanding the party’s influence, was replaced by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy shortly before the 2023 Assembly elections. Since then, Kishan Reddy has been handling dual responsibilities as both Union Minister and state party president.
With growing political dynamics and the need for a more focused approach in Telangana, the party leadership now appears set to appoint a dedicated state president, likely from the BC community, to energize the cadre and enhance grassroots outreach.
