Speaking to the media persons, Rajanarsimha stated that 31 victims are currently receiving treatment at NIMS Hospital, six at Gandhi Hospital, and seven more have been admitted to private healthcare facilities.

The victims reportedly fell ill after consuming chemically laced toddy from multiple toddy compounds in the Kukatpally area. The incident, which came to light earlier this week, has triggered widespread public concern over food and beverage safety standards in the city.

The Excise Department has launched a full-scale investigation, detaining several suspects and collecting samples from toddy shops for chemical analysis. Preliminary lab results have confirmed the presence of harmful substances in the toddy consumed by the victims.

Authorities have also appealed to the public to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness, or abdominal pain after consuming toddy.
