IPS Officers Promoted to DG Rank | Hyderabad, April 22 (Maxim News): The Telangana government on Wednesday promoted six senior IPS officers of the 1995 and 1996 batches to the rank of Director General of Police. The promotions were issued through G.O.Rt.No.509 by the General Administration Department.
The government empanelled the officers for promotion to the Above Super Time Scale in the rank of Director General of Police. After the empanelment, officials confirmed their elevation to DG rank with immediate effect.
The promoted officers will continue in their present postings in situ. Therefore, no transfer orders accompanied the promotions.

The officers promoted to the DG rank are Veerisetty Venkata Srinivasa Rao, Swati Lakra, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Charu Sinha, Dr Anil Kumar and V C Sajjanar.
All six officers belong to the Telangana cadre and have held several key assignments in policing, administration and public service.
Swati Lakra has served in important law and order and prison administration roles. Similarly, Mahesh Bhagwat is known for his anti human trafficking work. V C Sajjanar has also held major policing and transport sector responsibilities.
The order stated that the promotions fall under Level 16 in the Pay Matrix of IPS Pay Rules, 2016. As a result, the officers now move into the highest senior leadership bracket in the state police hierarchy.
Boost to Police Leadership
The promotions are expected to strengthen the senior command structure of Telangana Police. Moreover, the move opens the way for future administrative reshuffles at top levels.
Senior IPS promotions often play a key role in cadre management, succession planning and departmental leadership. Therefore, the latest order has drawn attention in official circles.
With these promotions, Telangana now adds six more officers to the DG rank, expanding its top level police leadership bench. (Maxim News)
