Hyderabad, April 22 (Maxim News) : In a major crackdown on food adulteration, Cyberabad Enforcement Wing busted illegal food units across the commissionerate and exposed a shocking network selling unsafe food products to the public.
Officials carried out surprise raids from January 1 to April 21, 2026. During the operation, police booked 22 criminal cases and arrested 28 accused persons.
Investigators found expired ingredients, fake labels, synthetic colours, and harmful chemicals inside several units. Moreover, many operators were preparing food in filthy conditions without valid FSSAI or trade licences.

Officials said the accused targeted commonly used food products. These included bakery items, sweets, namkeen, edible oils, wheat flour, ginger garlic paste, meat products, sauces, and ice creams.
In a major seizure, teams uncovered large scale adulteration of edible oil and atta. Police seized 5,026 litres of edible oil and 5,192 kilograms of wheat flour during the raids.
Further, officers raided fake ginger garlic paste units and found harmful preservatives. They also seized counterfeit branding materials used to cheat consumers.
Police also recovered cakes, pastries, bread, sweets, meat stock, loose sauces, processed food items, and three tons of reused cooking oil. Officials warned that reused oil can trigger serious health problems.
Overall, adulterated stock, machinery, and transport vehicles worth Rs 64.07 lakh were seized in the operation.
Cyberabad Police said the drive aimed to stop criminals who profit by risking public health. Therefore, officials launched strict surveillance on suspicious food manufacturing centres.
Meanwhile, police urged citizens to buy food only from licensed shops. They also asked the public to check expiry dates and packaging details before purchase.
Further, people can report suspicious activities to police or the Food Safety Department. Officials said more raids will continue in coming weeks.
Cyberabad Police warned that anyone involved in food adulteration will face strong legal action. (Maxim News)
