Shabbir Ali Demands Clarity From BRS On Muslim Inclusion In 42 Percent BC Quota

Hyderabad, July 26 (Maxim News): Senior Congress leader and Advisor to the Telangana Government, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, on Saturday demanded that BRS leaders publicly clarify their position on the inclusion of Muslims in the proposed 42% BC quota in Telangana. He questioned whether BRS leaders were aligning with the BJP’s communal agenda or supporting the Congress party’s inclusive policies aimed at uplifting backward communities.

Shabbir Ali was speaking at a condolence meeting organized by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation at Media Plus Auditorium, held in memory of veteran Urdu journalists Syed Shaik Naseeruddin and Syed Khader Mohiuddin Quadri (Waheed Quadri).

BRS Silence Raises Doubts, Says Shabbir Ali

Shabbir Ali took strong exception to the silence of top BRS leaders like former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, and T. Harish Rao on the BJP’s demand to exclude Muslims from the BC-E category. “Despite repeated clarifications that the BC quota is not religion-based, the BJP continues to stir controversy to polarize communities. The BRS’s silence suggests possible alignment with this divisive agenda,” he said.

Congress Government Fighting for Muslim Reservation

Reaffirming the Congress government’s stand, Shabbir Ali said the party continues to defend the 4% Muslim reservation under the BC-E category, which was introduced in 2004–05 and has benefitted over 22 lakh poor Muslims in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He assured that the case is being fought in the Supreme Court to uphold this critical social justice measure.

He extended financial support to their families and expressed heartfelt condolences.
