Center Reduces Prices Of 35 Medicines

Hyderabad, Aug 4 (Maxim News): In an effort to provide medicines to patients at lower prices, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has reduced the retail price of 35 essential medicines sold by leading pharmaceutical companies.  The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers issued this order.  This is a relief for those suffering from chronic diseases and spending a lot on medicines.

The list of medicines whose prices have been reduced includes formulations of anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular, antibiotic, anti-diabetic and psychiatric drugs as well as new oral antidiabetics such as aceclofenac, paracetamol, trypsin chymotrypsin, amoxicillin, potassium clavulanate, atorvastatin, empagliflozin, sitagliptin, metformin.  

The price of Aceclofenac Paracetamol Trypsin Chymotrypsin tablet manufactured by Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals and marketed by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is now Rs. 13, while the price of the same formulation marketed by Cadila Pharmaceutical is now Rs. 15.01.

Atorvastatin 40 mg, Clopidogrel 75 mg tablet, used for cardiovascular diseases, is priced at Rs. 25.61.  Oral suspensions for children’s use Cefixime, Paracetamol, Cholecalciferol drops for vitamin D supplementation Diclofenac injection, along with essential medicines like, are priced at Rs. 31.77 per ml.

Retailers And dealers must display these new price lists in medical shops, if sales are not made according to the new prices, fines will be imposed and the overcharged amounts will be recovered with interest, the concerned officials said.  (Maxim News)
