High Court Notices To Sabitha Indra Reddy And Kripanandan
Hyderabad, Aug 18 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court has issued notices to former Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and former IAS officer Kripanandan. The Nampally CBI court had earlier acquitted the duo in the Obulapuram illegal mining case. The CBI has filed a petition in the High Court challenging this verdict.
The High Court has ordered Sabita Indra Reddy and Kripanandan to file a counter-affidavit in this regard. The hearing has been adjourned until next month.
The Nampally CBI court delivered its final verdict in the Obulapuram mining case in May. After a 15-year trial, a total of five people were found guilty, while two were acquitted in this case. The main accused in this case, Gali Janardhan Reddy, BV Srinivasa Reddy, Mefaz Ali Khan, and the then Director of the Mines Department, VD Rajagopal, were found guilty and sentenced. Four people, including Gali Janardhan Reddy, were sentenced to seven years in prison. They were also fined Rs. 10,000 each. The Obulapuram Mining Company was fined Rs. 2 lakh. Sabitha Indira Reddy, who was the then Mines Minister, got relief in this case. Along with her, the CBI court acquitted the then Industries Secretary Kripanandam.
On the other hand, the Telangana High Court recently granted bail to four convicts in the Obulapuram illegal mining case. Along with Gali Janardhan Reddy, he granted bail to PA Ali Khan, BV Sriivas Reddy, and Rajagopal. (Maxim News)
