IMD Warns of Heavy Rain in Telangana, CM Alerts Departments

Hyderabad, Aug 19 (Maxim News): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that heavy rain will occur in Telangana today. It has issued an orange alert for some districts and a yellow alert for others.

While an orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, and Mancherial districts, a yellow alert has been issued for Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Medak, and Kamareddy districts, indicating that there is a possibility of heavy rains here and there. Hyderabad and its surrounding areas are likely to experience light to moderate rains or thundershowers and gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 km per hour. Officials have advised people ot to go out unless it is an emergency.

CM Revanth Reddy Alerts Departments

CM Revanth Reddy has also alerted all government departments. Water Resources Department officials have been ordered to continuously monitor reservoirs and ponds.  Officials have advised people in low-lying areas to be shifted to safer places.

Hyderabad has been receiving incessant rains since last night. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains were recorded in the city as well as in the surrounding districts of Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts. The impact of this rain was more severe in the suburbs of Hyderabad. Kukatpally in Medchal Malkajgiri received 46.3 mm of rainfall.  Similarly, heavy rains were also recorded in areas like Gopulapuram, Kapra, and Shamshabad.

Hyderabad Flooded After Incessant Rains

Due to this incessant rain, many low-lying areas of the city were flooded.  Traffic was severely affected as water stood on the main roads.  Motorists, especially two-wheelers, faced a lot of difficulties.  Along with this, there were also disruptions in the power supply.

According to the Meteorological Department, these rains are likely to continue in Telangana for a few more days. Officials have warned people not to go out unless it is an emergency and to avoid areas with standing water. People in low-lying areas are advised to remain alert and move to safer areas if necessary.  (Maxim News)
