CP Sajjanar Vows Strict Action Against Drugs, Cybercrime And Online Betting
New Police Commissioner Sajjanar outlines priorities for Hyderabad
Focus on drugs, cyber fraud, online betting apps, and traffic issues
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, V.C. Sajjanar, has vowed to take strong measures against drugs, cyber fraud, and online betting apps in the city. Speaking to the media after formally assuming charge, he said law and order will remain his top priority, along with a comprehensive crackdown on emerging criminal activities.
“Hyderabad is the fastest growing city in the country. The main problem we are facing now is drugs. We will take an iron fist on this. We will take strict action against drug suppliers. We will coordinate with the police of other states and move forward. If necessary, we will allocate more personnel and take action,” Sajjanar said.
The Commissioner underlined the growing threat of cyber crimes and stressed the need for greater awareness. “Fraudsters are mostly targeting the elderly and defrauding them. Many people are losing money due to lack of awareness and alertness about cyber crimes. All the people of the city should be aware of this. Be careful about calls coming in the name of investing in the stock market,” he warned.
On the issue of online betting, Sajjanar appealed to influential personalities not to endorse such platforms. “Youth is being badly affected by online betting. We are asking VIPs not to promote online betting apps. Do not believe calls in the name of digital arrests,” he added. He also flagged rising frauds involving rare disease medicines and promised special surveillance to curb such crimes.
The new CP announced that a special task force on adulterated food will be formed, supported by a market intelligence system to track offenders. He said Hyderabad police would act firmly against those indulging in adulteration.
Sajjanar also addressed the growing traffic crisis in Hyderabad. With lakhs of vehicles being added every year, he noted that congestion was harming both productivity and public health. “Traffic not only wastes time, but also damages health. If people drink alcohol and come on the roads with vehicles, we will not let them go. We will consider them road terrorists,” he said.
On crimes against women and children, the CP issued a stern warning. “We will take strict action if they commit atrocities against children and women. We will take them seriously if they come near women,” he asserted.
With his strong stance, Commissioner Sajjanar has set the tone for an aggressive drive against crime, cyber fraud, and drug trafficking in Hyderabad.
