Speaking at the Jagruti office in Banjara Hills recently, Kavitha questioned why local body elections cannot be delayed for two months until the BC reservation bill is passed.

“Our entire struggle is on BC reservations,” she said, urging that the issue be addressed seriously. Kavitha also clarified her political position, stating, “I have no connection with the BRS party.”

Kavitha also strongly countered the comments made by BJP MP Etala Rajender on local body elections. Rajender reportedly remarked that elections could be canceled, similar to Maharashtra.

Kavitha argued that such statements mislead the courts. She asked whether these words were Rajender’s own or represented the BJP’s stance.

She demanded that Etala Rajender apologize to the BC community, stating that his remarks undermined their rights.

On the cultural front, Kavitha highlighted the widespread participation of women from “Chintamadaka to London” in the Bathukamma Sambaralu organized by Telangana Jagruti.

She alleged that the Revanth Reddy-led government failed to issue a proper gazette on Telangana Thalli, instead releasing one that changed the statue’s shape and uploaded it online.

While she welcomed CM Revanth Reddy’s participation in the Bathukamma immersion program, she reminded that he had never earlier raised the slogan “Jai Telangana.”

Kavitha praised KCR for promoting Telangana’s cultural identity through Bathukamma celebrations.

She further alleged that the Congress issued a GO on BC reservations and then supported legal challenges against it, causing confusion in local body polls.

She pointed out that some reservations were allocated to groups not present in villages.

Kavitha concluded by stressing that if the caste census data undertaken by the government is released, clarity on reservations will emerge. (Maxim News)
