The Scheduled Castes Development Department issued a press note on Monday announcing the extension. The scholarships are offered under the Post Matric Scholarship scheme for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes, Minorities and physically challenged categories across the state.

Officials said the ePASS online system was introduced to ensure transparency and accountability in the sanction and disbursement of scholarships. The registrations are being carried out through the Telangana ePASS portal.

The registration process for colleges and students had originally started on July 1, 2025 and was scheduled to end on April 20, 2026.

Technical Problems Delay Student Registrations

According to the Commissioner of the Scheduled Castes Development Department, only 10,20,688 students registered against the expected 10,89,265 registrations across all categories. Officials said there was a shortfall of 68,597 registrations compared to the previous year.

The department identified several technical issues that affected registrations. Officials said Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences in Warangal was conducting counselling for courses including MSc Nursing, MPT, NPH, NPCC and NPM for the academic year 2025-26, but CET data had not yet been uploaded to the ePASS portal.

Authorities also reported technical problems on the Mee Seva portal during the first week of April. Delays in sharing SSC data after SSC portal updates and Aadhaar SSC mismatch issues also affected the registration process.

Officials said many eligible students could not complete their applications within the original deadline because of these issues.

Following a request from the Commissioner of SCDD Hyderabad, the government approved the extension after careful consideration.

The government directed all regulatory authorities and college managements to ensure that colleges and students complete data uploads on the ePASS portal before May 31, 2026 for sanction of fresh and renewal scholarships.

Welfare departments were also instructed to give wide publicity to the registration process to ensure that all eligible students benefit from the scholarship scheme.
