Jubilee Hills By Poll: TDP Steps Aside Ahead Of By-Polls
Hyderabad, Oct 8: (Maxim News) In a significant political development, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has announced that it will not contest the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election in Telangana.
The decision followed a key strategy meeting of Telangana TDP leaders, chaired by party chief and Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Jubilee Hills, known as one of Hyderabad’s most high-profile urban constituencies, has been a traditional stronghold for the TDP in the past. Several local leaders had expressed interest in contesting, confident that the party could reassert its presence despite the competitive political atmosphere.
During his recent visit to Hyderabad, Chandrababu Naidu had emphasized that the TDP should focus on contesting independently rather than aligning with other parties.
However, after reviewing the current political situation, the party leadership decided not to field a candidate this time.
TDP has also clarified that it will not extend support to either the Congress or the BRS in Jubilee Hills. Although the party remains in alliance with the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu has left the decision to local Telangana leaders on whether to offer informal support to BJP or maintain neutrality.
With the official by-election notification set to be issued on October 13, political analysts believe the TDP’s absence could subtly influence the urban vote share and reshape campaign strategies for both the Congress and the BJP in Hyderabad.
The move also indicates that the TDP may be realigning its priorities as it prepares for larger political battles in both Telugu states.(Maxim News)
