Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 13 (Maxim News): The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made key changes in the matter of rooftop solar panels to be set up under the Pradhan Mantri Suryagarh Yojana (PMSGY) scheme.
It has been decided that separate net metering agreements are not required. It has also been stated that net metering charges should be waived from now on.
The central power ministry has recently advised states to further simplify the procedures related to the PMSGY scheme. The centre is constantly reviewing the implementation of this scheme, which started in 2024.
The centre has clarified that no separate agreement is required for net metering and that a digital agreement in the online application form on the PMSGY portal is sufficient.
The centre has said that Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Haryana are accepting digital agreements and other states should also follow suit. It is stated that 17 states have already waived net metering charges. (Maxim News)
