Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 16 (Maxim News): It is known that US President Donald Trump has made key comments on India’s oil purchases from Russia. Trump said that Prime Minister Modi had assured him that India would no longer buy oil from Russia.
India has recently responded to Trump’s comments. It has made it clear that national security and interests are its top priority. It has stated that its policies regarding energy imports will be based entirely on domestic needs.
To this end, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal issued a statement. “India imports a large amount of oil and gas. In the current situation of volatile international energy prices, our first priority is to protect the interests of Indian consumers. Our import policies are entirely based on this objective. Stable energy prices and secure supply.. These are the two main objectives of our energy policy. For this, we are diversifying our energy sources in line with market conditions,” he said.
As for the US, he said that for many years, they have been trying to increase their energy procurement from that country. The statement said that this has increased gradually over the past decade. He said that the current US government is also interested in increasing energy cooperation with India. He revealed that discussions on this matter are ongoing. (Maxim News)
