Former minister T Harish Rao had demanded action against Ponguleti over the controversy. He also wrote an open letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the issue. The BRS has sought Ponguleti’s dismissal, alleging that the minister should take responsibility for the developments surrounding 22A lands.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy responded through a post on X on Wednesday. He accused the BRS of repeatedly making allegations and creating public concern. He said the opposition party had failed to use its role in a constructive manner.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy Questions BRS Allegations

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy also targeted Harish Rao over his remarks on corruption and commissions. He questioned the former minister’s criticism in view of allegations raised against the previous BRS government.

The minister referred to several issues linked to the previous government. These included the Kaleshwaram project, Dharani land records system and medical colleges. He alleged that the BRS leadership had faced questions over corruption during its decade in power.

However, these statements represent the minister’s political allegations. They should not be treated as established facts without supporting findings from competent authorities.

Ponguleti also questioned how some BRS leaders accumulated their wealth during their time in government. He asked Harish Rao to explain the source of such financial growth. The minister used sharp political language while making these remarks.

The latest exchange follows a wider political dispute over 22A prohibited lands in Telangana. Lands placed under Section 22A face restrictions on registration and certain forms of transfer under applicable law.

The issue has now become a major point of confrontation between the ruling Congress and the BRS. The opposition has demanded accountability from the government. The ruling side has rejected the allegations and accused the BRS of politicising the matter.

Meanwhile, the controversy has also drawn attention to land administration and the handling of restricted properties in the state. The government will face pressure to provide clarity on the specific land records and decisions at the centre of the dispute.

Both sides are expected to continue their political arguments over the issue. The matter could also remain a key talking point in the Telangana political debate in the coming days.

For now, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has firmly rejected the BRS attack. He has instead questioned the opposition’s record in government and its approach to the present controversy. (Maxim News)
