Hyderabad, Aug 20 (Maxim News): The GHMC is gearing up for the smooth conduct of ensuing Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities in the city. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is on September 14 and idol immersion will be on September 25 on the conclusion of the 10-day festivities.
On Thursday, GHMC Commissioner, RV Karnan held a special meeting with line departments and discussed arrangements. Following the trifurcation of the erstwhile GHMC, the civic body is handling the Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities for the first time in newly added circles, zones and recently merged areas.
According to a press release, discussions at the meeting focused on procession routes and needed arrangements for the occasion. In association with festival committees, police and other government departments, an action plan will be drafted and a dedicated coordination mechanism set up to address issues related to roads, barricading, cranes, electricity, water supply, sanitation and emergency services.
A control room will be set up at Tank Bund and another control room will be opened for real-time coordination, monitoring and rapid response during idols immersion. The deployments include round-the-clock sanitation, fogging teams, cranes, boats, swimmers, lifesaving equipment, ambulances and paramedical staff.
Road repair works along procession routes are to be taken up and completed by September 13, the press release said. (Maxim News)
