Chandrababu Naidu Says Andhra Pradesh Sets Record with Largest DBT Scheme
Hyderabad, Nov 1 (Maxim News): Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has implemented the country’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme by spending ₹50,764 crore on pensions so far.
Addressing a public event at Peddannavaripalli in Sri Sathya Sai district on Saturday, he launched the NTR Bharosa pension distribution programme. Chandrababu Naidu stated that Andhra Pradesh is the only state spending ₹33,000 crore annually on pensions. Despite challenges, he said the government would never delay pension payments to the poor.
The Chief Minister emphasized his commitment to direct public interaction, noting that he visits people every month to understand their needs.
Highlighting the difference between past and present administrations, Naidu said earlier governments were disconnected from citizens, while his administration delivers pensions directly to beneficiaries’ doorsteps. “We could have pressed a button or stayed behind curtains, but I prefer to meet the people personally,” he remarked.
He added that 2.65 lakh volunteers were engaged in delivering pensions efficiently, reducing the time to complete distribution to just three hours. Naidu said the scale and speed of Andhra Pradesh’s welfare delivery set a new national benchmark in social governance. (Maxim News)
