Jubilee Hills Bypoll: Unaccounted Cash Rs 3.33 Crore Seized

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (Maxim News): The enforcement teams deployed for the Jubilee Hills by-election have seized Rs 3.33 crore in unaccounted cash since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force on October 6. The operations were carried out under the supervision of the District Election Officer (DEO) R. V. Karnan to ensure fair and transparent election practices.

Releasing the cumulative seizure report on Thursday, the DEO said the enforcement teams also confiscated Rs 4,63,297 worth of liquor during various checks. Officials revealed that more than 685.585 litres of liquor were seized from different parts of the constituency as part of routine raids and surprise inspections. “The enforcement teams seized Rs 4,63,297 worth of 685.585 litres of liquor during the checks in the Jubilee Hills assembly by-poll,” the DEO said.

In addition to cash and liquor, goods worth Rs 1,37,840 identified as potential inducements to voters were also confiscated. These items included laptops, vehicles, pressure cookers, and sarees that were allegedly being distributed in violation of election guidelines. Officials stated that local police and excise authorities have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance ahead of polling day.

Further, the enforcement teams reported the seizure of Rs 1,97,600 worth of ganja along with a small quantity of MDMA. Specifically, 2.264 kilograms of ganja and 0.011 grams of MDMA were seized during inspections carried out in the constituency. The contraband was handed over to the concerned police and excise departments for further legal action.

To ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, multiple teams including Flying Squad Teams, Static Surveillance Teams, Video Surveillance Teams, and Video Viewing Teams have been operational across the Jubilee Hills constituency. Officials said these teams are actively monitoring MCC violations, unaccounted money circulation, and attempts to influence voters.

The DEO reiterated that strict enforcement measures would continue until polling concludes. Authorities have urged political parties and candidates to adhere to the election code and warned that any violations will attract immediate legal action.
