Hyderabad, Oct. 2 (Maxim News): Former Telangana minister and BRS leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said the party will soon organise a public meeting in Kodangal to counter Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s recent political campaign in the state.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Talasani said Revanth Reddy could tour any part of Telangana in his capacity as Chief Minister but questioned the need for the Chief Minister to demonstrate political strength in Sircilla.
“Is Sircilla in another state?” Talasani asked, while referring to Revanth Reddy’s recent Sircilla visit.
He said the Chief Minister had also indicated that he would hold a public meeting in Siddipet. Talasani said the BRS would organise its Kodangal meeting after the proposed Siddipet event.
BRS Plans Counter to Congress Campaign
Talasani claimed that Revanth Reddy had gained little political advantage from the Sircilla meeting and alleged that the event had caused more political damage than benefit to the Chief Minister.
He said the proposed BRS meeting in Kodangal would draw a strong response and claimed it would put political pressure on the Chief Minister.
Talasani’s remarks came amid an intensifying exchange between BRS and Congress leaders. BRS leaders have recently criticised Revanth Reddy over his Sircilla visit, alleging that the Chief Minister focused on political attacks instead of addressing issues facing the weaving community.
At the Khairatabad Assembly by-election, Talasani expressed confidence that the BRS would win the seat.
He alleged that voters were unhappy with Danam Nagender over his change of political affiliation and claimed that even people who had not voted in earlier elections would turn out for the bypoll.
Talasani also rejected comparisons with the Jubilee Hills and Secunderabad Cantonment by-elections, saying the political circumstances were different.
He further claimed that financial inducements would not influence voters in favour of the Congress.
However, the Khairatabad by-election process is currently subject to a legal development. The Election Commission has told the Telangana High Court that it will not issue a by-election notification until a pending election petition concerning the constituency is finally resolved. The High Court is scheduled to hear the matter again on October 6.
Talasani Questions Assembly Suspension
Talasani also questioned the suspension of BRS legislators from the Telangana Assembly.
“Why were we suspended from the Assembly? What did we do?” he asked, questioning the relevance of the Speaker’s action to a confrontation that allegedly took place outside the Assembly.
BRS legislators had earlier been suspended from the Assembly, following which the party held a mock Assembly at Telangana Bhavan in September to raise issues including irrigation, jobs, power shortages, land disputes and women’s safety.
Talasani’s latest comments come as the BRS and Congress continue to trade political allegations ahead of upcoming electoral contests and amid renewed activity over the Khairatabad constituency. (Maxim News)
