Jubilee Hills By-Election Campaign Ends, Polling On Nov 11

The campaign for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election concluded on Sunday evening, setting the stage for polling scheduled on November 11. Counting of votes will take place on November 14. The Election Commission has directed all non-locals to vacate the constituency after 6 pm and ordered the closure of pubs and liquor outlets within the Jubilee Hills area. Voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm.

District Election Officer RV Karnan, addressing a press conference, said that a total of 4,01,365 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the by-election. He announced that all electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be transported from Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy Stadium to respective polling stations on Monday night. This time, four ballot units will be available in each polling station to ensure smooth voting. The officer confirmed that 407 polling booths have been arranged across 139 polling locations within the constituency.

To ensure smooth conduct of the polls, Karnan said that 2,060 election staff have been deployed. The Election Commission has arranged for 561 Control Units, 595 VVPATs, and 2,394 ballot units. In terms of security, three-tier measures have been planned, with 45 Flying Squad Teams (FST) and 45 Static Surveillance Teams (SST) operating in the area. Paramilitary forces will also be stationed across sensitive locations for enhanced monitoring.

Karnan added that live webcasting will take place from all polling stations, supported by help desks for voter assistance. NCC volunteers will help manage queues, and mobile deposit counters will be stationed at polling centers. “We will monitor through drones,” he said, adding that the Reserve Bank of India has been consulted to track suspicious financial activities, including the transfer of money through digital payment platforms such as PhonePe and Google Pay. He further stated that the RBI will also monitor wine shops till 11 pm to curb malpractice.

RV Karnan appealed to all voters to participate in the democratic process responsibly. “All voters should come forward and cast their votes,” he urged, emphasizing that the Election Commission has made all arrangements to ensure peaceful and transparent polling in Jubilee Hills.
