Investigators identified the arrested individuals as Raj Manohar Pawar, aged 22, a student from Gujarat, and Rithik Mohite, aged 24, a law student from Madhya Pradesh. They also detained a 16-year-old juvenile offender. Meanwhile, three other suspects—Dinesh Mohite, Arun Mohite also known as Kalu, and Vilas Chohan—remain at large.

The crime unfolded late on October 10, when the gang targeted the administrative office of the Brilliant Group of Institutions. Using long screwdrivers, the burglars broke open an almirah and made off with Rs 1.07 crore in cash. According to the police, the stolen money represented fee collections from students.

Authorities reported that the group had initially used Google Maps to search for educational institutions near highways, aiming to choose an isolated target. They first surveyed a college at Tattiannaram, but decided against it due to security measures. “They then selected Brilliant Engineering College due to its remote location. The gang hid in nearby bushes until midnight before breaking in. After collecting the cash, they divided the amount on the spot, each getting around Rs 17.8 lakh, including the juvenile,” said G Sudheer Babu, Police Commissioner, Rachakonda.

Once the burglary was discovered, the Rachakonda Police organized special investigative teams. The teams, assisted by various officers and special units, traced leads across multiple states, including Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka. After sustained surveillance, officers succeeded in identifying and apprehending the suspects.
