Delhi, June 27: Tensions escalated again in the Strait of Hormuz after an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the strategic shipping route, according to British maritime authorities.

The vessel involved was identified as the Panama flagged tanker KIKU. The attack damaged the ship’s bridge, but all crew members were reported safe and no environmental damage was recorded. Authorities are investigating the incident and have not identified those responsible.

The incident marks one of the first reported attacks on a commercial oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz since recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran.
