Visakhapatnam: After energising cities like Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Bhopal, the SBI Green Marathon Season 6 arrived at the breathtaking coastline of Visakhapatnam — the City of Destiny. The iconic VMRDA Park at Ramakrishna Beach transformed into a vibrant wave of runners and green enthusiasm as thousands gathered to celebrate fitness, community, and sustainability.

With its pristine shoreline, lush greenery, and strong eco-conscious culture, Visakhapatnam perfectly echoed the marathon’s guiding philosophy — “Run for a Greener India.”

Over 3,900 participants — including fitness enthusiasts, families, and a proud contingent of the Indian Navy and Defence forces — took on the scenic coastal route with one shared purpose: to run not just for themselves, but for the planet.

The marathon was flagged off by respected SBI dignitaries – Shri Rahul Sankritya, Deputy General Manager & Shri K Uma Maheswara Rao, Public Relations Officer. Their presence reinforced SBI’s commitment to inspiring India toward a more sustainable and health-focused future.

Upholding its sustainability-first legacy, the SBI Green Marathon delivered an environmentally responsible experience at every step:

• Organic T-shirts, plantable BIBs, and reusable cloth goodie bags encouraged a zero-waste approach.
• Black alkaline water, a pioneering hydration initiative, supported runner endurance and recovery.
• Waste Management Partner Skrap oversaw waste segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal — with a comprehensive sustainability report to follow.

Adding to the charged atmosphere was Mirchi RJ Prem, whose energy, interaction, and enthusiasm kept runners motivated and the crowd fully engaged, turning the morning into a celebration of fitness and community spirit.

From 5K to 10K to 21K, the AIMS-certified marathon brought together Visakhapatnam’s vibrant running community — defence teams, seasoned athletes, running groups, and first-time participants — all united under the banner of sustainability.
