Money Lenders Harassment Leads Businessman To Suicide

Hyderabad: A businessman died by suicide at Mailardevpally after alleged harassment by private money lenders. The incident occurred on Saturday night and led to strong accusations from the victim’s family.
According to police, the victim, Shaik Imran, aged 40, lived with his family in Shastripuram under the Mailardevpally police station limits. He ran an old furniture sale business. On Saturday night, he returned home from his shop and then hanged himself in a room of the house. The family found him later and informed the authorities. The police said they are treating the case with seriousness because the family mentioned continued pressure on him.
Meanwhile, the relatives told police that two persons named Jahangir and Sohail had lent Rs 3 lakh to Imran. They said the lenders later collected Rs 9 lakh from him over a period of one year. The family also alleged that both men kept demanding more money even after receiving the higher amount. They claimed that Imran faced harassment when he failed to pay additional sums.
The relatives further stated that Imran grew depressed due to these demands. They said the pressure increased in recent weeks and created fear and distress at home. They added that the constant harassment finally pushed him to take the extreme step. Their statement formed a key part of the initial police report.
Therefore, the Mailardevpally police registered a case and began an investigation. Officers said they will check the financial trail, question the two men named by the family, and review the claims made by the relatives. They added that further action will follow based on evidence gathered during the inquiry.
