However, on Tuesday, IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers announced that flight services are currently normal and that flights will be operated in the future. In this context, the DGCA has issued the latest orders. The DCGA revealed that the CEO has been ordered to attend a meeting with senior officials of all the departments concerned. It has ordered the airlines to submit information related to the resumption of flight services, pilot and crew recruitment plan, number of canceled flights, and refunds paid so far. IndiGo operates about 2,300 flights a day. IndiGo has a share of more than 60 percent in the aviation market. The market cap has fallen by about Rs. 21 thousand crore due to the crisis. On the one hand, airlines say that the situation has improved.. but flight cancellations are still continuing across the country.

The main reason for the crisis that has been going on across the country for the past nine days is the cancellation of thousands of flights by IndiGo since December 1. As per the new safety rules issued by the DGCA, the airlines failed to make proper plans. This led to chaos in operations. While passengers faced severe difficulties, competing airlines took advantage of this and increased ticket prices drastically. After that, the Center stepped in and issued orders restricting charges. At the same time, the DGCA issued orders to reduce IndiGo’s winter flight schedule by 10 percent. With this, 220 flights will be reduced. However, Minister Rammohan Naidu said that these measures are necessary to stabilize IndiGo’s operations and reduce the number of canceled flights. (Maxim News)
