GHMC to Survey Dilapidated Buildings as Part of Monsoon Safety Drive

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will conduct a citywide survey of dilapidated buildings, unsafe compound walls, and ongoing cellar excavation works as part of its monsoon preparedness measures.

Deputy Municipal Commissioners and Assistant City Planners have been directed to identify vulnerable structures and risky excavation sites across the city.

Officials have been asked to take preventive safety measures ahead of heavy rains, with GHMC warning that negligence affecting public safety will attract disciplinary action.

Evacuation, notices, and demolition plans

Field staff will prepare a detailed list of unsafe buildings, which will be assessed by the Engineering Wing for structural stability.

Based on the findings, GHMC will issue notices to owners and occupiers under the GHMC Act.

  • Evacuate residents from highly unsafe buildings
  • Seal dangerous premises
  • Erect barricades around risky structures
