Panchayat Election Polling Turnout Rises Across Telangana
Panchayat Election Polling | Hyderabad, Dec. 11: Panchayat election polling recorded steady participation across Telangana as voters lined up outside polling stations from early morning.
The State Election Commission reported that polling reached 18.37 percent by 9 am, covering the first two hours of voting.
The state has 3526266 voters, and 647879 of them had cast their votes by that time. The first phase covers multiple districts and aims to complete voting by 1 pm under the schedule announced earlier.
Panchayat Election Polling Sees District Wise Variation
Mahbubabad district reported the highest turnout with 28.87 percent. The district recorded 8885 votes from a total electorate of 30781.
Surypet followed with 26.43 percent as 30165 voters participated from a voter base of 114130.
Siddipet, Khammam and Jogulamba Gadwal posted 24.06 percent, 23.77 percent and 22.26 percent respectively. These districts maintained a steady flow of voters throughout the morning as polling staff facilitated the early rush.
However, Komaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the lowest turnout with only 7.85 percent. The district saw just 7954 votes from 101287 eligible voters.
Adilabad marked 8.97 percent, while Bhadradri Kothagudem registered 12.72 percent. Mulugu reported 13.31 percent by the same time. These districts showed slower movement in the first hours, yet officials expect numbers to rise before polling closes.
The Commission earlier confirmed that voting would continue until 1 pm under the first-phase schedule.
The first-phase figures reflect the uneven pace of rural voter participation. They also help the authorities plan the next phases more effectively.
The Commission continues to monitor district-level activity and will release updated turnout figures as polling progresses.
