Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Hyderabad on December 13 and received a grand welcome at Shamshabad Airport. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud welcomed him on arrival. The Rahul Gandhi Hyderabad visit is linked to the friendly football match involving world football legend Lionel Messi, scheduled to be played at Uppal Stadium as part of the India Goat TGour-2025. Rahul Gandhi came to Hyderabad to watch the match.

After the airport reception, Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud travelled together from the airport to Falaknuma Palace in the same car. According to the information shared, they will take part in a meet and greet programme that Messi will attend at Falaknuma Palace. Therefore, the visit combines political engagement with the high profile sports event taking place in the city.

During the Rahul Gandhi Hyderabad visit, arrangements were made to ensure smooth movement of leaders and guests. Later, after attending the programme at Falaknuma Palace, Rahul Gandhi will go directly to Uppal Stadium. He will watch Messi’s friendly match there. Then, after the match, Rahul Gandhi and others will talk for a while. Later in the night, Rahul Gandhi will leave for Delhi.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police have been put on high alert due to security concerns. Police tightened security after chaos erupted at an earlier event attended by Messi at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Therefore, officials strengthened security near Uppal Stadium ahead of the match.

Only people with valid passes will be allowed to enter the stadium. Police said they have taken precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents similar to those reported at Salt Lake Stadium.

Also, traffic restrictions have been imposed in areas surrounding Uppal in view of the match. Police asked the public to cooperate with the restrictions and follow instructions. The Rahul Gandhi Hyderabad visit, combined with the Messi match, has led to heightened security and traffic planning across key routes in the city. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure that all scheduled programmes proceed without disruption.
