West Bengal: Over 58 Lakh Forms Marked Uncollectible In ‘SIR’ Voter, Name To Be Provisionally Removed

Kolkata/Hyderabad, Dec 15 (Maxim News); Over 58 lakh enumeration forms marked uncollectable in West Bengal’s voter list revision process. 58,17,851 forms have been identified as uncollected across the state. These voters’ names will be provisionally removed from the draft list. 92.41% of voters’ forms digitised so far in West Bengal.

7,06,98,649 out of 7,66,86,658 voters’ forms digitised. At present the Commission has received 99.99% voter information.

In East Midnapore, Bankura, Murshidabad, Nadia, Birbhum and South Dinajpur districts 93-96% forms digitised. North and South  Kolkata are lagging behind with North Kolkata recording 74.07% & South Kolkata recording 76.17% digitization. As per sources, the reason for slow progress in some areas are non‑cooperation and infrastructure & technical glitches.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, Mr Arindam Niyogi, has said that more than 31 lakhs people may be called for hearing in the claims and objection phase of the SIR process in West Bengal. More than 58 lakhs enumeration forms have been identified as uncollectible in the state. Special Roll Observers are touring the states for cross cross-check of submitted Enumeration Forms and other related SIR processes in the state. (Maxim News)
