In his letter, Asaduddin Owaisi pointed out that Hyderabad and Secunderabad host several religious processions every year. He said these events form an important part of the city’s religious and cultural life. He stressed that trained elephants play a key role in many of these processions. Therefore, he said, the lack of a locally available trained elephant has become a recurring problem.

Explaining the issue in detail, Owaisi wrote, “Trained elephants are used in these religious processions like Muharram, Bonal, Gyarvi Shareef etc. There used to be a trained elephant available in Telangana State which was utilized during these processions. But since the death of the elephant there is no trained elephant in Telangana. Every year, during these occasions a trained elephant needs to be arranged from other States, which is causing a lot of hurdles and inconvenience.” He said this situation has continued for several years.

Meanwhile, Owaisi highlighted that arranging a trained elephant from other states every year creates avoidable difficulties. He said the process leads to logistical issues and delays. He also suggested that these repeated arrangements put pressure on organisers and authorities during major religious occasions. Therefore, he urged the state government to find a permanent solution instead of temporary arrangements.

Later in the letter, Owaisi appealed to the Chief Minister to look into the matter seriously. He urged the government to initiate action to ensure that a trained elephant is available within Telangana. He said such a step would help religious processions take place smoothly every year. He also said it would reduce dependence on other states and avoid inconvenience to organisers and devotees.
