Three GHMC Corporations Planned, Election Notification Soon

Hyderabad, Dec 23 (Maxim News): The Telangana government is preparing plans to divide the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three corporations. It is understood that in addition to forming one corporation with 150 divisions, two more corporations will be formed with municipalities and corporations.

The term of the current Baldia Governing Council will end on February 10. In this context, it is reported that the government is planning to go for the Greater elections in February. It seems that the notification for the Greater elections is likely to be issued any time after February 10.

The obstacles to the expansion of GHMC and the delimitation of wards have already been removed. The Telangana High Court has dismissed more than 80 petitions filed on the division of wards. The court has commented on the intervention in the delimitation of wards. This can be said to have paved the way for the delimitation process. It is reported that the authorities have received more than 10 thousand objections on the expansion of GHMC and the delimitation of wards.

It seems that the officials who have examined the objections are planning to change the names of about 40 wards and change the boundaries of 10 wards. It is reported that the government will issue a final notification on the delimitation of the wards tomorrow (Wednesday). On the other hand, local agitations are continuing in some areas in the wake of the delimitation of the wards.
