Police valued the seized ganja at around ₹1.80 lakh. They also seized two mobile phones from the accused.
The arrested men were identified as Injamamul Haque alias Faizal Khan, 25, and Anish Kumar Saw, 25. Both are labourers from Bokaro, Jharkhand, according to the police.
Police Trace Ganja Supply From Jharkhand
According to police, Haque and Saw are childhood friends who came to Hyderabad in 2024 in search of work. They reportedly worked in catering at Kompally.
During their work, police said, the duo became acquainted with Tarun Kumar of Hassan Nagar. Investigators allege that they later decided to enter the ganja trade to make quick money.
Police said the two accused allegedly procured ganja from a supplier identified as Sukku alias Murmu in Kandra village of Jharkhand’s Bokaro district. They allegedly transported the contraband to Hyderabad and sold it to Tarun Kumar.
The accused reportedly purchased ganja for about ₹13,000 per kg and sold it for around ₹18,000 to ₹20,000 per kg, police said. They allegedly made such purchases two or three times earlier.
About 10 days before their arrest, Tarun Kumar allegedly asked them to arrange another consignment. Police said the duo purchased 3.3 kg of ganja from Sukku and travelled to Hyderabad by train.
On October 1, they allegedly reached Aramghar X Road to deliver the consignment to Tarun Kumar. Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force and Mailardevpally police intercepted them and seized the ganja.
Police said Sukku, described as the alleged main supplier, and Tarun Kumar, described as the alleged local peddler, are absconding.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Charminar Zone Task Force Inspector S. Saidababu, along with Sub-Inspectors M. Mahesh, K. Rama Rao and M. Madhu, Police Constable P. Mahesh and Mailardevpally police personnel. (Maxim News)
