Hyderabad, Oct. 2 (Maxim News): As many as 187 cars participated in a Tiranga Ahimsa Car Rally organised at Jal Vihar on Necklace Road on Friday to mark Gandhi Jayanti and promote the message of non-violence and national unity.
Organised by the Shri Vardhaman Sthanakvasi Jain Shravak Sangh, Greater Hyderabad, Kachiguda, the 23-km rally featured decorated cars carrying the Indian National Flag along with the Jain religious flag.
The rally was flagged off in the presence of chief conveners Manoj Kothari, Dharmendra Nahar, Prashant Kocheta, Anraj Batna, Nemichand Bukhiya, Suresh Gundecha and Prem Kothari.
The route covered several prominent parts of Hyderabad, including the Secretariat, Tank Bund, Ranigunj, Paradise, Begumpet, Somajiguda, Raj Bhavan Road, Khairatabad and Lakdi-ka-pul before returning to Jal Vihar.
Mahesh Bhagwat Highlights Ahimsa and National Unity
Senior police officer Mahesh Bhagwat addressed participants at the closing ceremony and spoke about his personal association with Jain values.
He said he had studied at a Jain school in Ahmednagar and appreciated the principles of Jainism.
Bhagwat praised the rally for conveying the message of “Nation First, Religion Next.”
The rally commemorated the birth anniversary of Pujya Acharya Gyanchandra Ji Maharaj, Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and the International Day of Non-Violence.
Although organised by the Jain community, the rally was open to people from different faiths and communities. Organisers said the initiative aimed to highlight the universal values of Ahimsa, peace, compassion and national unity.
The event concluded with recognition and prizes for the best-decorated cars. (Maxim News)
