Palamuru Migration District: KTR Targets Revanth Reddy

  • KTR accuses Congress of reversing Palamuru development
  • BRS alleges stalled irrigation projects and farmer distress

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, has launched a strong attack on the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that Palamuru has once again been pushed into distress and migration. He said the Congress government had reversed the development achieved earlier and failed to protect irrigation and farmer interests in the region.

Addressing a meeting of newly elected Sarpanches in Nagar Kurnool, KTR said the Congress government did not continue key irrigation and development works started during the BRS regime. He alleged that even after two years in power, the government failed to complete even 10 per cent of the earlier initiated works. Therefore, he claimed Palamuru was facing severe setbacks.

Referring to earlier progress, KTR said, “Palamuru was made green and prosperous under KCR’s leadership. Today, without even lifting a handful of soil, the Chief Minister is indulging in irresponsible and abusive rhetoric. Congress has once again turned Palamuru into a migration district by stalling projects and drying up irrigation.” He said this situation had directly impacted farmers and rural livelihoods.

KTR further stated that nearly 90 per cent of the Palamuru project works were completed during the KCR government. However, he alleged that after coming to power, the Congress government cancelled approved tenders and weakened the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. He also accused the government of compromising Telangana’s rightful water allocations, which he said severely affected farmers.

Meanwhile, KTR announced that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was preparing for another phase of struggle. He said the effort aims to protect the Palamuru–Rangareddy project, safeguard Telangana’s water interests, and stand with farmers. He added that KCR would soon visit Palamuru and appealed to people to support the movement.

Highlighting what he described as an agrarian crisis, KTR said the Congress government replaced the “Rythu Bandhu” era with “Ra-Bandhu” (Vulture) rule. He alleged that farmers were forced to plead for urea fertiliser and stand in long queues even during cold conditions. “Revanth Reddy has no concern for farmers. During KCR’s tenure, there was never a shortage of urea, and farmers received fertilisers as per their needs,” he said.

KTR also accused the Congress of cheating the public after coming to power with unrealistic promises. He said the Chief Minister used abusive language when questioned about poll promises, even after two years in office. He expressed confidence that the Congress government had only two more years left and said only a KCR-led government could restore development and dignity to villages.
