Children’s Film Festival Inaugurated At IMC MANUU

The Children’s Film Festival was inaugurated at the Instructional Media Centre of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, with a strong emphasis on learning through cinema. Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar of MANUU, highlighted the educational value of films for young minds. He said, “Films based on learning plays a vital role in nurturing imagination, empathy, and critical thinking among students.” The event marked the formal opening of a three day festival dedicated to children’s cinema.

During the programme, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed also released the MANUU Calendar 2026. The release took place in the presence of Mr. Praveen Nagda, Director of Culture Cinema Film Festival C2F2 and KidzCINEMA. The Instructional Media Centre of MANUU is hosting the Children’s Film Festival in association with C2F2 and the KidzCINEMA Film Festival. Therefore, the event reflects a collaborative effort to promote meaningful cinema for young audiences.

Meanwhile, welcoming the gathering, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed expressed happiness over the active participation of students from the MANUU Model School. He said all three MANUU Model Schools located in Hyderabad, Nuh, and Darbhanga are performing exceptionally well in academics and co curricular activities. He noted that such festivals help students grow beyond classrooms and engage with creative platforms.

Later, speaking as the Guest of Honour, Mr. Praveen Nagda stressed the importance of offering quality international cinema to children. He said such films encourage creativity and global awareness among young viewers. He also appreciated MANUU’s commitment to promoting children’s cinema and cultural exchange through film. His address highlighted the role of curated cinema in shaping young perspectives.

In his welcome address, Mr. Rizwan Ahamd, Director of IMC, spoke about cinema as an academic and teaching tool. He said films entertain, educate, sensitize, and broaden the worldview of learners. According to him, initiatives like the Children’s Film Festival help bridge the gap between classroom learning and creative expression.

The event was convened by Mr. Mohammed Mujahid Ali, Festival Convener and Producer at IMC. Dr. Mohd Mustafa Ali Sarwari, University PRO, explained the concept of MANUU Calendar 2026 and said it showcases inspiring journeys of MANUU alumni. Mr. Omar Azmi and Mr. Muhammad Ghulam Ahmad were felicitated for their creative contributions. The programme concluded with a special film screening, formally beginning the Children’s Film Festival, which will continue for three days with national and international films.
