BJP Lacks Grassroots Strength In Telangana: KTR
Hyderabad, Jan. 12 (Maxim News): BRS working president K Tarak Rama Rao on Monday said the Bharatiya Janata Party has no grassroots strength in Telangana, either in the past or in the future.
He made the remarks while addressing a municipal election preparatory meeting with BRS leaders from Adilabad and Medak districts.
KTR said the BJP can never emerge as an alternative to what he described as the Congress party’s misgovernance in the state.
He stated that people are comparing the last 24 months of Congress rule with the development achieved during the previous ten years.
Therefore, he said, public opinion is clearly shifting back towards the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
He pointed out that from the recent Jubilee Hills by election to panchayat level polls, voters have consistently supported BRS.
According to him, this trend reflects growing dissatisfaction with the present Congress government. Hence, he said the public mood remains firmly in favour of BRS across Telangana.
KTR described the BJP’s performance in the last parliamentary elections as a result of temporary political circumstances. He said the national political situation had turned bipolar at that time.
As a result, he claimed, an unusual situation helped the BJP secure victories. However, he asserted that this did not reflect real organisational strength in Telangana.
He further stated that every senior BJP leader who contested the Assembly elections suffered a heavy defeat.
In contrast, he said, the parliamentary wins came only due to favourable conditions. Therefore, he reiterated that the BJP will not become an alternative to Congress even in the upcoming municipal elections.
KTR said BRS has been fighting for the people over the last 24 months against what he termed Congress corruption, irregularities, and misuse of power.
He added that the Congress party’s actions during recent panchayat elections, including alleged misuse of authority and false claims, will be exposed in the municipal polls. He also accused the Congress government of betraying all sections of society.
Moreover, he alleged that Congress acted against Telangana’s interests in issues ranging from Krishna river waters to inter state matters. Despite this, he said, the BJP has remained silent and failed to question the Congress.
Therefore, KTR said people are closely observing the agendas of both national parties, which he claimed run against Telangana’s interests and future. He expressed confidence that voters will deliver a fitting response to both parties in the coming elections.
KTR urged BRS cadre to fight unitedly in the municipal elections and secure a decisive victory over Congress.
During the meeting, he also sought detailed inputs on local political conditions in municipalities across Adilabad and Medak districts. (Maxim News)
