Sankranti Effect: Burglary In 13 Houses In Chengicherla

Hyderabad, jan 16 (Maxim News):  people have taken to the countryside for the Sankranti festival.  Most of the houses in the city have been locked.  In addition, a gang of thieves has been stirred up in Hyderabad.  In Chengicherla under Medipally limits, thieves looted 5 houses in Kanaka Durga nagar Colony Phase 4 Road No. 2 and 6 houses in Anushakti Nagar Colony in the early hours of today (January 16, 2026).  There was panic among the locals as 13 houses were targeted and massive thefts were committed in a single night.  It is understood that the thefts took place between 1.30 am and 3.30 am.

According to the locals, two days ago, three suspicious people were seen spraying pesticides on trees in the colony.  The residents of the colony said that a large amount of gold, silver and cash was stolen.  The full details of how much money and property was stolen are yet to be known.

According to police information, a gang of thieves, who had been previously rehearsed, entered the colony in a car and, armed with knives, broke the locks of doors and cupboards and committed thefts.  After stealing gold, silver and cash from several houses, the thieves fled from the spot.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Medipally police and the clues team reached the spot and are collecting evidence.  Based on the CCTV footage, a search operation has been launched to trace the thieves.  The residents of the colony said that gold, silver and cash were stolen.  The value of these items is yet to be ascertained.  (Maxim News)
