Murder over Rs 22 | Hyderabad, Jan. 18: A shocking murder over a mere Rs 22 stunned Medak district, where a man killed his friend during a drunken argument in Chegunta mandal.
The incident occurred in Ananthasagar village on the day of Sankranti.
Police said both the victim and the accused were natives of Uttar Pradesh and lived together in Ananthasagar.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Siraj (30), while the accused is Mahesh Kumar Verma (.
According to investigators, the two consumed alcohol together throughout the day. Later, Mahesh asked Siraj to repay Rs 22 he owed. An argument broke out, which soon turned violent.
Murder Over Rs 22 Shocks Medak Village
In an inebriated state, Mahesh lost control and repeatedly hit Siraj’s head against a nearby tree. He then struck Siraj on the head with a stone lying at the spot. Siraj suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Police registered a murder case soon after the incident. During interrogation, Mahesh confessed to killing his friend over the small amount of money. The crime sent shockwaves through the village and the district, DSP DSP Narender Goud along with Toopran CI Rangakrishna and Chegunta SI Chaitanya Kumar Reddy stated at a media meet.
Further investigation is underway to complete legal formalities.
