Human Trafficking Arrests In Mancherial Over Illegal Adoption
- Human trafficking case exposes illegal child adoption racket
- Mancherial police arrest two, hunt continues for absconding accused
Two persons were arrested in Mancherial district for their alleged role in an illegal child adoption case, bringing human trafficking concerns back into focus. The arrests took place in Luxettipet town on Friday evening. Police confirmed that two more accused in the same case are still absconding. The human trafficking case came to light following a complaint received through Childline.
According to the input, Luxettipet Inspector Ramana Murthy identified the arrested persons as Alluri Seetharamaraju of Thegalpahad in Nasspur mandal and Bojja Swarupa of Mahalaxmiwada in Luxettipet town. Police said the duo facilitated the adoption of a child by a couple from Modela village. Meanwhile, Jaya and Anwesh, both from the district, were named as the other accused who remain at large.
During interrogation, Seetharamaraju and Swarupa reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. They admitted that they committed the offence to make quick money. Police said they acted as mediators between childless couples and human traffickers. They also confessed to extracting huge amounts of money from barren couples from Mancherial district and several other parts of northern Telangana by supplying children. Therefore, investigators believe the case points to a wider network involved in human trafficking.
The accused further revealed that the child involved in this case was procured through Jaya and Anwesh. Police are now working to trace the absconding accused and identify other possible links. Meanwhile, officials are verifying whether similar illegal adoptions took place earlier using the same method. The investigation continues to focus on financial transactions and communication records connected to the accused.
A case was registered against all four accused on December 26. Police acted after receiving a complaint through Childline, a dedicated centre that works to rescue children in distress. Following the complaint, authorities launched a detailed investigation, which led to the arrests in Luxettipet. Officials said further action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing probe.
The human trafficking arrests in Mancherial have raised concerns over illegal adoption practices in the region. Police have urged the public to follow legal adoption procedures and report suspicious activity. Investigators said they will take strict action against anyone found involved in child trafficking.
