The plot came to light after intelligence officials received information that terror attacks were being planned in the country. Following this input, intelligence agencies and police launched a coordinated search operation. During the operation, they arrested five members associated with Babbar Khalsa International. Meanwhile, officials confirmed the seizure of 2.5 kg of RDX and a large amount of weapons from the accused. During interrogation, the arrested persons reportedly admitted that they had hatched a conspiracy to carry out attacks during the Republic Day celebrations.

Police officials identified the arrested accused as Sharan Preet Singh, Diljot Singh Saini, Harman, Ajay and Arshdeep Singh. They said preliminary investigations revealed that the terrorist gang was being run by Babbar Khalsa handlers based in the United States. Officials further explained that the accused planned attacks in several places based on instructions received from these handlers. Therefore, security agencies treated the case as a serious national security threat.

Meanwhile, security forces intensified search operations in major cities, including the national capital Delhi. Officials said terrorist gangs were planning more attacks in several parts of the country. Later, authorities decided to tighten security arrangements for Republic Day celebrations, especially in view of the terror attack at the Red Fort last year. Officials also confirmed that a red alert was declared across the country due to the possibility of more terror plots.

Police said continuous checks would continue as part of heightened security measures. They added that multiple agencies were working together to prevent any further attempts to disrupt Republic Day events. The terror conspiracy foiled in this operation prompted authorities to remain on high alert across the country as celebrations approached.
