Family Dies by Suicide After Falling Under Train in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Three members of the same family died by suicide after falling under a moving train between Cherlapalli and Ghatkesar railway stations early Saturday, triggering shock and grief in the city.
The incident occurred on the MMTS downline during the early morning hours. Railway police identified the deceased as Pinninti Vijayashanti Reddy and her two children, Vishal Reddy and Chaitanya Reddy. All three were residents of Haritha Haram Colony in Boduppal.
According to officials, the incident came to light after the loco pilot of a goods train alerted authorities. He reported that the train had run over three persons on the track section between Cherlapalli and Ghatkesar.

Soon after receiving the alert, Government Railway Police rushed to the spot. The bodies were recovered and shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Police said no railway tickets or personal valuables were found on the victims.
A case was registered under GRP Crime No. 57 of 2026. The police have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the family suicide under train. Officers said all possible angles are being examined.
Investigators are verifying whether the family faced financial distress or other personal issues. Police are also questioning relatives and local residents for additional information. Officials stated that no conclusions have been reached so far.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Haritha Haram Colony in Boduppal. Neighbours described the family as quiet and reserved. Further details are expected after the postmortem reports and completion of preliminary inquiries.
