- BRS alleges political vendetta in police notices to KCR
- Political vendetta claims raise questions on police conduct
Hyderabad: Political vendetta allegations took centre stage on January 31 as senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of targeting BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He alleged that the Congress government adopted a vindictive and unlawful approach against the Leader of the Opposition. He raised serious concerns over the manner in which police officials served notices to KCR in an ongoing case.
Addressing the media, Sohail criticised the police action in strong words. He said that KCR had personally shared his residential address with authorities. However, police officials visited a different location late at night. They pasted notices on the gate of a house where KCR was not present. Calling the move deliberate, Sohail said, “This is nothing but arrogance and a shameful act of political vendetta.” He argued that the timing and method showed clear intent to harass.
Meanwhile, Sohail described the incident as an attempt to undermine KCR’s stature. He said the former chief minister symbolised the Telangana movement. “KCR is not just a political figure; he is the man who led the movement for Telangana statehood. This humiliation is not just directed at him but at the sentiments of the people of Telangana,” he said. Therefore, he claimed the issue went beyond party politics.
Sohail also pointed to what he called serious procedural violations. He noted that the law requires individuals above 65 years to be questioned at their residence. He reminded that KCR is 70 years old. “KCR is 70 years old. Even basic legal norms are being ignored. Is this ignorance or deliberate misuse of police machinery? Are law enforcement agencies being reduced to political tools?” he asked. He said such actions weakened public trust in institutions.
Later, the BRS leader accused the Congress government of using intimidation to silence opposition voices. He said such conduct reflected insecurity and political immaturity. “In a democracy, opposition leaders must be treated with dignity. Misusing state machinery to target them sets a dangerous precedent,” he said. He warned that democratic values were at stake.
Sohail said the BRS continued to place full faith in the judiciary and the Constitution. He added, “The people of Telangana are watching these developments closely. Every illegal case filed against opposition leaders will be exposed. The public will give a fitting response at the right time.” He further cautioned the government, saying, “Today, it is KCR. Tomorrow, it could be any dissenting voice. The people will not tolerate this arrogance for long.”
